Selling your items - "RM10 is too much!"
So excited to finally announce our new way of selling! It's been months of intense work on our side to make it as convenient as possible for our fellow Malaysians to sell their clothing. Now you can just drop it off at any of the PostCo locations in Klang Valley. Soon enough anyone all over Malaysia can sell their clothing to VOWS - with a flat rate! <3
I understand that some of us may feel that paying to clear out our wardrobe is expensive..and "aiyo, malas lah. Just throw or donate lah, no need to pay. Give to bibik lah can already.".
I feel you, sister. Trust me, I do.
We believe clearing your wardrobe should be as easy and painless as possible, which is why we started VOWS in the first place. Other platforms, especially peer-to-peer selling platforms, are just too much hassle for me and my sister - all the listing, negotiating prices, requests, enquiries and shipping products when all we want to do is just clear our wardrobe.
VOWS takes away all the inconvenient processes from you - including paying you upfront so you never have to worry if your items will be sold.
I believe most of our previous contributors had a good experience with most of them earning more than RM100 for their clothing, with an average of only 20minutes sorting process. We want the same experience for our future contributors so understandably, making the decision to charge RM10 for the shipping of your items to our warehouse is not an easy one to make.
The main reason why we had to charge the RM10 is because we have a great relationship with the folks who deliver your items to us and would hate to see their hard work, including carrying the heavy boxes up and down stairs, driving hours and making sure your items are labeled, delivered fast, safe and sound go unappreciated. We're sure if you've met them, you'd love them too! They're truly a happy bunch with a good vibe :)
The RM10 charge you pay will go entirely to them for their hard work. From the barista greeting you when you drop off your items at your favourite brunch place, to the postmen picking it up and driving hours to our warehouse delivering your items to our associates. The small amount you pay will be distributed to hardworking ladies and gentlemen and we're proud to provide jobs to these folks and I'm sure you'll also be proud to provide sustenance to them and their families :)
Also - with the small charge of RM10, which costs less than a regular morning latte or a small cinema snack, you can sell up to 20 kilograms of clothing (average of 100 pieces of clothing) and even make back the money! We're very certain you'd spend more than RM10 on gas, toll, time wasted when you list your items on other platform and having to ship your items on your own (imagine having to list 100 pieces? urgh!).
If the charge is still too much for to pay, and you decide to donate it to somewhere else, my personal suggestion is for you donate it to those who needs it. It's easy to assume those in need wants your clothing - because who doesn't need to cover themselves right? Well - not always. Make sure the organisation, individual, clubs, country you're donating to actually need clothing. How do you that? Ask. Most of them need anything but clothing.
I'd be happy if together we could stop our "fashion waste" from circulating around, dumped from one charity house to another because we don't want to deal with them. So let's start asking if the person you're giving your clothes away to actually need or want your clothing. At VOWS, we insist on asking that question for every donation we make, and we hope you do too.
I'd love to hear what you think. Write to email@example.com and I'll personally read and reply to your concerns :)
Happy new year <3
